I am participating in the Mystery Challenge blogtour for the first time and I must confess, I had so much fun!
My swap mate gave me the theme Andy Warhole. Andy Warhol was a leading figure in the pop art movement. Amongst a lot of things, he was a painting artist. His most known work is the campbells soup can or his screen printing of famous artists like Marilyn Monroe.
After thinking for a while how I could create an Andy Warhol inspired garment, I found out he also painted Superman! Yay, for me and my son.
I got some nice sweat fabrics at our local market in superman colors and decided on pants. I wanted to try screen printing so I did. But I gave it my own little twist to make it more manageable with kids running around. This is what I did.
1. I used an embroidery ring and some tulle. Next I used a marker to create a the Superman logo on the tulle.
2. I used a red fabric marker and started drawing on the fabric, within the blank lines.
3. Took the tulle off of the fabric and found a screen printed Superman logo. (Maybe not a legit screen print because I did not use normal fabric paint, but my table was still clean and so where the kids…..)
4. Iron the fabric (on the other side of the fabric when the paint is dry) so the paint stays there when you wash it.
5. Enjoy the result.
6. Do it again!
Aww,
so cute! Look at the hands!
